Privacy Policy for QuietSpend

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how QuietSpend (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the QuietSpend Android application.

QuietSpend is a personal expense tracker designed to work offline. We do not require you to create an account, and the App does not request sensitive Android permissions such as Internet, Location, Camera, Contacts, Microphone, Phone, or SMS.

3. Information the App stores on your device

QuietSpend stores the information you enter and settings you choose locally on your device so the App can provide its features. This may include:

• Expense records (for example amount, date, note/description, and category)
• Categories you create or edit
• Budget information you set
• App settings (for example currency display preference, theme preference, and onboarding status)

This information is stored in local on-device storage (including a local database and local preferences). We do not operate a QuietSpend account system and we do not ask you to submit personal profile data such as name, email address, or password to use the App.

4. Permissions

Based on the App’s declared Android permissions, QuietSpend does not require runtime-sensitive permissions to function.

• Internet: Not requested. The App is designed to work offline.
• Location, Camera, Contacts, Microphone, Phone, SMS, Calendar: Not requested.
• Storage / media library permissions: Not requested. If you create a backup or export a CSV file, the App uses the Android system file picker (Storage Access Framework) so you choose where the file is saved or opened.

The App may rely on standard Android platform components. Those components do not change the fact that QuietSpend itself does not declare Internet access or the sensitive permissions listed above.

5. What we do not do

In this version of QuietSpend:

• We do not require login or an account
• We do not show ads
• We do not include analytics SDKs that collect your usage data
• We do not include crash-reporting SDKs that upload reports from the App
• We do not sell your data
• We do not connect QuietSpend to your bank accounts

Because the App does not use an Internet permission for QuietSpend networking, the App does not transmit your expense records to QuietSpend servers. There are no QuietSpend servers used by this App to receive your expense data.

6. Files you create (backup and CSV export)

If you choose to create a JSON backup or export a CSV file, the file is written to a location you select through the Android system file picker. Those files may contain your expense, category, budget, and settings information.

We cannot access files stored in locations you choose on your device or cloud storage accounts unless you separately send them to us (for example by email for support). Please keep exported files secure.

7. Android backup and device transfer

QuietSpend allows Android Auto Backup / device transfer features provided by the operating system (android:allowBackup is enabled). If you have device backup or device-to-device transfer enabled in your Android / Google account settings, your local QuietSpend app data may be included in those system backups or transfers according to your device settings and Google’s policies.

That process is controlled by you and by the Android / Google platform, not by a QuietSpend online account. You can manage backup settings in your device system settings.

8. Children’s privacy

QuietSpend is a general-audience personal finance utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through QuietSpend servers, because the App does not operate such collection.

9. Data retention and deletion

• Data remains on your device until you delete it in the App, clear app data in system settings, or uninstall the App.
• The App provides an in-app option to clear expense and budget data (categories may be kept, according to the App’s clear-data behavior).
• Uninstalling QuietSpend removes the App’s local data from the device, except files you previously exported or saved outside the App.
• If your device backup still contains QuietSpend data, that copy is managed by your device / Google backup settings until you remove it there.

10. Security

We design QuietSpend to keep your records on-device. No method of electronic storage is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device (for example with a screen lock) and for protecting any backup or CSV files you create.

11. Third-party services

This version of QuietSpend does not integrate advertising networks, analytics services, social logins, or payment processors inside the App.

If you install QuietSpend from Google Play, Google Play and your device platform may process information under their own privacy policies (for example app install metadata). That processing is governed by Google / device providers, not by QuietSpend app networking.

12. International users

QuietSpend stores data locally on the device where the App is installed. We do not operate a QuietSpend cloud service that transfers your expense records internationally through the App.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the App’s data practices change (for example if a future version adds online features). When we update it, we will revise the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use of the App after an update means you should review the revised policy.
